A Church is best defined as a place of worship for a group of people engaged in a particular belief, usually Christianity or those who believe in the religion of Christ. For those with the love of God in their hearts, it is an all-inclusive place to find spirituality, faith, tranquility, and rejoice. It is thus necessary, while designing church logos, that proper attention and consideration is given to the structure of the church logos. Following are the attributes of church logos which if observed correctly; deliver a good church logo design. Colors. The use of colors in church logos differs due to the varying nature, history and doctrines of different churches. Colors based on these elements are incorporated in the respective church logos. Mostly, church logos consist of shades of yellow, blue and red colors which not only reflect the Christian character in church logos, but also give it a positive and cheerful look. Furthermore, these colors convey a specific message to the people who see them. The color yellow represents positivity, sunshine and weakness before God, whereas, the color blue signifies authority, dignity, security, loyalty and faithfulness. On the other hand, red symbolizes aggressiveness, passion, strength and vitality. Though, the choice of colors is not strictly limited, these however are the colors which are widely used. Images. For many reasons, symbology had existed in almost all the religions of the world. For one, it bridges the gulf between cross-language barriers. Thus, followers of any religion can identify their respective faiths without much interpretation. On the other hand, logos are meant to express the sacred ethics and norms of a particular religion. As a result, there is a wide use of images, emblems and symbols in these logos, which are closely related to Christianity. Almost in every church logo, one can notice the pictorial representation of a Cross, a dove or other related images which represent peace, religious values and humanity. It is necessary to note that the images used in these logos are conformist and tangible so that the believers, for whom the church logos are created, do not feel offended in any way. Fonts. Like any other logo, church logos need to be fully integrated with appropriate colors, symbolic images and imaginative fonts. No one can underestimate the importance of fonts in logos, including the church logos. However, the use of fonts in a church logo needs to be simple and readable. It should also be kept in mind that the use of fonts in church logos should be kept formal and minimal for the sake of visibility, while retaining the idea of properly expressing the entity’s mission. Churches have the task of informing and teaching the masses about the respective church’s mission, services and/or task(s). That is why, many churches include their mission statements, prayers, excerpts from Holy books and other information(s), deemed necessary by them, in their church logos to attract and educate the people. |
